Cookie Policy
When the General Data Protection Regulation entered into force, the European Union required that website owners request permission from users living in EU countries to use cookies on their sites. If your site is focused on residents of EU states, you can use our Cookie Policy plugin to comply with the regulations set forth by the GDPR.
How it works
After the installation of the Cookie Policy plugin, the Administrator will be able to manage its settings. In particular, he will be able to select the countries for which the Plugin will apply, set the view of the cookie message, enter the redirection URL in case the user refuses to accept the cookies, and block all cookies.
Front end
When a user opens your site for the first time, he will see a pop-up or a banner telling him that the site uses cookies to store the user’s data. The pop-up or the banner (whichever the Administrator of the site will choose to use) will notify the user that he will need to agree to the rules regarding cookies and other data if he wants to carry on browsing the site. After accepting the Cookie Policy, the user will be able to continue viewing the data and perform other actions on your site. In case the user refuses to accept the Policy, he will not be able to use your site and will be redirected to another resource, for example, to the Google search page or to a page with GDPR information.
Back end
The Plugin has a manager, which is added to the Basic settings in the back end. As we have already mentioned, this manager allows the Administrator to select the countries for which the Plugin will be used, determine what the Cookie Policy message will look like, block all cookies, etc. Let’s take a closer look at these settings.
Display of the cookie message
The Plugin manager allows you to choose how your cookie message will look.
Banner
If you want to display your cookie consent notice in form of a banner, it will appear at the bottom of your site page. You can select the color scheme for the banner through the use of a PSD file which will be available in the Plugin folder. This file can be used to change the graphic design of the banner, for example, to bring the banner color in line with the concept of your website.
Pop-up
You may also choose to have the cookie text displayed as a pop-up. In this case, you will be able to set the position of the pop-up on your site (left or right bottom corner). And, similarly to the banner, you can also choose the color scheme of the pop-up using the PSD file mentioned above.
Selecting countries for which the Plugin will be used
Since the Plugin was developed to comply with the GDPR, it is enabled by default for all EU countries. The Administrator, however, can view the list of the countries, for which the Plugin is enabled, and add new states, if necessary.
In addition, the Administrator can enter a URL for redirecting the user in case he refuses to accept the Cookie Policy (for example, https://www.google.com). He can also block all cookies.
